Lighting Considerations
This post contains some quick lighting considerations based on research about lighting in Maya.
I wish for the lighting to have a warmer tone to it, so afternoon is perfect. Sunset is too warm, somewhere in the middle.
Early evening setting.
Lighting sources: windows, open doors (as if there are windows inside those rooms. Perhaps from wall lamp lighting- since he may have some of the lights on. Concerning the wall lights, I will be selective in which lights are turned on. I will implement this lighting to draw attention to certain parts of narrative devices in scene. For example, the photo frame close up, since I want to draw attention to the couple photo.
Possible types of lighting used in Maya
- Area lights on the windows.
- A cube for the unseen rooms with area lights to give an impression that there is light from inside the rooms (this can be done very quickly).
- Point lights for the wall lighting.
- Physical Sky?
I have had an idea from watching tutorial videos on how to go about setting up the lighting. I should Set them up individually (with the other hidden at first). This way I can decide how much e.g. a certain lamp’s light penumbra (spread) should cover.
