Final Major Project Proposal

Proposal Notes

Personal challenges within this project will include the complexity of the environment design and character rig. Due to the simplicity of the concept, I need to plan everything accordingly. The environment may seem simple, a country pathway, however, I need to limit the environment content, with efficiency to save on time. In terms of the character, a more detailed character model is my intended goal, I will need to learn and understand how to model and rig clothes. Some parts of the body will not need to be modelled, in place of the clothes models. The rig will be more detailed that I have made previously, by implementing the techniques and methods that I have learned in the Premise Project and through workshops.

Furthermore, the premise project has helped me to understand areas where my ‘building a presence’ concept are lacking. Further suggestive information must be provided to build the impression of an off-screen character, and off-screen action. Most of all, I intend to build a scene with strong imagery, symbolism, and only the essential elements.

Another challenge of my proposed project will be working out how to design the narrative. So far, the narrative is open and broad, however, I will have to create a narrative and imagery structure that directs the audiences perspective towards my final message/ outcome. This should include further substance and significance while the protagonist is walking, this part is essential. I believe that providing personality and context attributes to object, props and the scenery will provide necessary character information. Pholey sound effects will be used to bring the imagery together, and also provide audible information (rather than visual) about the off-screen characters.

Further Notes

What is the reason behind the protagonist talking to himself. Is it a natural mental condition due to old age? Or a representation of his wishes/ desires out of grief or loneliness?
